Terminology:
The pattern is written in the UK terms
You should be able to crochet the basic stitches as
☆ SS - Slip stitch
☆ CH - Chain stitch
☆ DC - Double crochet (UK)/SC - Single crochet (US)
☆ Double crochet (UK)/Single crochet (US) into the back loops only
and to know how to make the increase of the stitches.
