Our wide rectangular bases are perfect for creating sturdy and stylish crochet baskets. Available in a variety of sizes, these bases provide a solid foundation for your projects, ensuring durability and a polished look.
Designed for ease of use, they work seamlessly with different types of yarn, including T-shirt yarn. If using T-shirt yarn, remember to increase the stitches in the corners (3 stitches) for a smooth and even shape.

Wooden bases not only speed up your crochet but save yarn as well, so you can create even more baskets! The different base sizes let you create beautiful basket sets. So useful to store cosmetics, jewellery, or any bits 'n' bobs.
You can paint or varnish the base, or even add decoupage to give it a nice bespoke touch.

Some recommendations about the hook size and yarn:
T-shirt yarn is the most popular yarn for crocheting the baskets. However you can macrame cord or even four strands of a 100% cotton yarn (50gr/100m per ball).
Choose the size of the hook as recommended on the yarn label. If there are two sizes of hook, it is better to start with the smaller size for the first round (which goes around the holes of the base) and then to use the larger size in the following rounds.
I usually use a 5mm hook for the first round, and then change to the 6mm hook.
If you find that your crochet works out tightly, please try the next hook size up than the one on the label.
